<nettime-ann> [event] [Liverpool] HCI @ FACT - Laptops Welcome! |
REMINDER: HCI @ FACT Josh Nimoy: Icon=3D=3DFunction 4 October 2005 The Box 18:00 - 20:30 FREE (pre-booking required) BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP The HCI (Human Computer Interaction) project is a collaboration between FACT and the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at Liverpool John Moore=92s University that seeks to explore issues of computer usability. Artists Josh Nimoy (US), Simon Poulter (UK) and Caen Botto (Argentina) have been commissioned to propose experiments, based on scientific principles of human-computer interaction, that analyze how a variety of different users, from different backgrounds and levels of technological training, interact with 'the machine'. Josh Nimoy will be presenting IconFunction, a series of interactive game-like audio-visual environments that analyzes the relationship between the functionality of user interfaces, and their iconographic facades. The body of work attempts to eliminate the divide between the outer and inner parts of 'the machine.' Caen Botto and Simon Poulter will also be present to inform us about their projects up to date. www.hci-fun.org.uk Made possible by a Partnerships for Public Awareness grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Marta Ruperez Curator FACT (Foundation for Art & Creative Technology) 88 Wood Street Liverpool, L1 4DQ t: + 44 (0)151 707 4425 f: + 44 (0)151 707 4445 http://www.fact.co.uk _______________________________________________ nettime-ann mailing list [email protected] http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-ann
