We invite you for the 5th Upgrade! Eindhoven meeting on Sunday afternoon, 31 May 2009 15:00 – 17:00 in Smalle Haven. This exiting new venue is located at Smalle Haven 2- 14, next to Heuvel Galerie in the heart of Eindhoven. We welcome: Michelle Teran & Danielle Roberts & Anja Hertenberger Michelle Teran (Canada) explores the interplay between social and media networks within urban environments, She uses performative action, many times involving public participation, to articulate the relation of media to the body and architecture by staging urban interventions such as tours, walks, outdoor projections, participatory installations and happenings. Michelle presents a selection of her work. Danielle Roberts (NL) is interested in visualising the invisible. Emotions and the workings of the mind are captured as data using sensor technology and the web. Data is presented on websites, installations and wearables for the user to interact with. Anja Hertenberger (DE) is engaged in structure and order as membrane to privacy. In her video-collages, installations and performances she is researching identity in relation to media, surveillance, power, control and man-machine interaction. She works in different media like drawing, photo, video, computer programming, electronic and embroidery. Danielle and Anja present: e-Pressed (Danielle Roberts, Anja Hertenberger, Barbara Pais) e-Pressed is a wearable that senses and visualises inner states, creating awareness in the wearer and in others and promotes interaction. The garment. introduces a new way of communicating and making contact. North-southfeeling (Danielle Roberts) Bi-local datamapping and visuals of heart-rate, GPS location and activities. The data gathered is visualized in an online web application. Upgrade! is an international, emerging network of autonomous nodes united by art, technology, and a commitment to bridging cultural divides.
