Get it! Feel It! Know it! Viz it! DataViz Workshop Miguel Cardoso /Pedro Almeida, 12 - 15 Oct. 2011, Lisbon, Portugal About the workshop An introductory workshop to the theories, tools, and strategies for data visualization: a transversal discipline with great communication potential that enables the understanding of large abstract sets of data flooding us every day. Starting from a conceptual definition and an historical reading of data visualization major references, the intent is to create an environment for critical analysis and experimentation in this field. An exercise will be proposed, starting from a data set, the participants will be invited to explore its informational significance by collecting, analyzing, selecting and filtering the data and to represent its content developing models that can provide a significant interaction with the user. For such, we’ll go through various disciplines (design, mathematics, computation, sciences) and theories (graphs, complexity, emergence) with the intent to create a significant experience of information. Dates and Duration From 12 to 15 October - 16h 12 Oct (Wed.) - 18.30 – 21.30 13 Oct (Thur) - 18.30 – 21.30 14 Oct (Fri)- 18.30 – 21.30 15 Oct (Sat) - 10.30 – 13.30 + 15.00- 19.00 Who this workshop is for: Artists, designers and researchers interested in data visualization. No previous programming skills are required.
