From 3 to 5 December in Beursschouwburg, Brussels >From 9 to 12 December in Veem House for Performance, Amsterdam For a while, its future was in the balance, as back in the summer, we heard that the annual project grant was cancelled for our platform that gives emerging artists opportunities and bags of energy. Despite this, the edition of 2015 is being extended and shrinking at the same time! Bâtard Festival continues to surprise … Extended? Besides a Brussels edition, an Amsterdam equivalent is being staged, with the Veem House for performance being the place to be. Shrinking? This year, Bâtard is no longer taking up the entire building, but will be operating from a single space: the theatre hall. The Bâtard headquarters will be a hotbed for loving, but poignant protests, a safe haven for dangerous ideas, a fortress surrounded by urban commotion. In this space, all Bâtard projects find a home. One festival, one space, one audience The theatre hall serves as a microcosm, a multipurpose room as a political metaphor. The festival turns back on itself, goes underground and gives birth to a whole gang of bastards. Bâtard Festival will be a truly artistic guerrilla. Van 3 tot 5 december in Beursschouwburg, Brussel Van 9 tot 12 december in Veem huis voor performance, Amsterdam Het hing even aan een zijden draadje: deze zomer hoorden we het nieuws dat de jaarlijkse projectsubsidie geschrapt werd voor ons platform dat emerging kunstenaars kansen en veel energie geeft. Desondanks bereidt de editie van 2015 uit én krimpt in! Bâtard Festival blijft verrassen… Uitbreiding? Naast een Brusselse editie wordt voor de eerste keer een Amsterdamse pendant georganiseerd. Het Veem Huis voor performance is daarvoor the place to be. Inkrimping? Bâtard bestormt dit jaar niet meer het hele gebouw, ze opereren vanuit één ruimte: de theaterzaal. Het Bâtard-hoofdkwartier wordt een heet broeinest met liefdevolle, maar pregnante protesten, een veilige haven voor gevaarlijke ideeën, een fort te midden van stedelijk tumult. In deze bezette ruimte vinden alle Bâtard-projecten een onderkomen. Eén festival, één ruimte, één publiek De theaterzaal functioneert als de wereld in een notendop, een polyruimte als politieke metafoor. Het festival keert in zichzelf, gaat ondergronds en baart een hele bende bastaarden. Bâtard Festival wordt een heuse artistieke guerilla. Reculer pour mieux sauter! Betreed samen met ons deze gedeelde, bezette en broeierige ruimte en laat ons afstanden overbruggen tijdens drie gevarieerde Bâtard evenings in Brussel. Du 3 au 5 décembre au Beursschouwburg, Bruxelles Du 9 au 12 décembre à la Veem House for Performance, Amsterdam Il s’en est fallu de peu : cet été nous avions appris que le subside annuel pour le projet avait été aboli pour notre plate-forme qui offre aux artistes émergeants des opportunités et un boost d’énergie. Qu’à cela ne tienne : l’édition de 2015 prend de l’ampleur mais aussi un coup de minceur ! Bâtard Festival ne cesse de surprendre… Plus d’ampleur? Outre une édition bruxelloise, un pendant sera organisé à Amsterdam. Het Veem Huis est à cet effet le lieu par excellence. Coup de minceur? Cette année Bâtard n’investira plus le bâtiment entier, mais ils opéreront à partir d’un seul espace : la salle de théâtre (d’or). Le point de chute de Bâtard sera un foyer aux protestations pleines d’amour mais prégnantes aussi, un havre sûr pour les idées dangereuses, un fort au milieu du tumulte de la ville. Tous les projets de Bâtard trouveront abri dans cette salle occupée. Un festival unique, une salle unique, un public unique La salle de théâtre sera le reflet du monde en miniature, une salle polyvalente comme métaphore politique. Le festival se renferme sur soi, prend un caractère clandestin et donne vie à toute une flopée de bâtards. Reculer pour mieux sauter!  Pénétrez avec nous dans cet espace partagé, occupé et étouffant et attaquez-vous aux distances lors de trois Bâtard evenings variés.
