Yes, what else than the absense of a decent mpeg client was the reason
for the success of Real. Real, as far as I know, is nothing but mpeg with
a special header.

But this player was/is also more "open" than other stuff. You dont need
those special headers, you can use *.mpg, for exemple.

So, whatever the implications are on the other side, smells like good news
for movie makers etc.
