I would suggest we are still on the upward swing of one of those long waves
you've all heard about, also know as Kondratieff cycles, which have
generally run around 50 years from trough to trough. The last low point was
the 1970s. The new major product - computer networks - and the productivity
gains resulting from its dissemination began to assert themselves in the
nineties.

As the wave reaches its height there can be a lot of turbulence, not only
financial and economic, but also social and political.

Expect a lot of turbulence over the upcoming decade of obscene capitalist
growth.
