Italy is well-known in anarchist circles as a place where squatters have had
a lot of success converting unused private property into community centers
for young people. And as I remember, it was the western european country that
came closest to socialism after wwii, and it was only the hard work of the
cia that prevented it from happening. It could have been a great moment in
history, if a major western nation, outside the soviet bloc, had managed to
go completely socialist.
