The problem with this sort of verse is that it is all sentiment and not content, no deeper probing into the viscera and issue of what is at stake. So whatever meaning it has, and there is the denotative sense available to all, is lost in the flood of denotation and daily disuse of nouns and adjectives whose signifiance has been deadened and abused to clich. This is a malaise which has a remedy and that is language poetry and its reformulations of the territory of linguisitic alienation. one sees this sort of verse again and again, and sadly as soon read as soon forgot ---------------------------------------------> >Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 22:35:37 +0200 >From: "Mona Abdallah" <[email protected]> >Subject: Brand new world > >Hello all: > >A poem by a friend of mine, the Arab poet, Ehab Lotayef.
