<nettime> good things and lazy thoughts

On the recent crossfire between New and Old worlds on who has priority for
saying sensible critical things about (in this case) "WestCoast
techno-lib". Take a moment, pause - think how we in Canada look on at
this jousting.

New and Old. No need to go back to 1776, to the Revolution (which we
never bothered with). Somehow, few of you out there ever seemed to
understand that McLuhan was always a *satirist*, much more than a
techno-optimist. That's in part why it was so insufferable for us to see
him sanctified as he was, on the Wired masthead.
