icann has nothing to do with it as the whois demonstrates,  that you 
can resolve the name, also indicates it isn't anyone in the dns system

ummmm I dont see how this is accurate.

I checked the domain status on both yellowtimes.org and 
newsfromthefront.org with both networksolutions and the appropriate 
registrar and they are both active with authoritative nameservers.
Whoever owns the newsfromthefront.org website is the one who put up the 
sensationalist
 Account for domain yellowtimes.org has been suspended
graphic.  If authorities wish to suspend a domain it simply becomes 
invisible on the net and no one gets to play with graphics and put up 
nice pages about it.

Censorship is a serious issue and spurious accusations of censorship do 
no one's cause any good.

i trust that most nettimers are klewed-in enough to know that this
report is false, at least in the sense that ICANN had nothing what-
soever to do with this. but it's war, right? and what's a war with-
out a little hysteria? if we're going to have a discourse, then we
all have to pitch in.

it doesn't take that long to plug 'yellowtimes.org' into google to 
see a cache from 'March 25, 2003, 10:31am':

or to plug it into archive.org to see that they have snapshots of 
the site going back to mid-2001. 

really adventurous model netizens could even unleash something dia-
bolical like the dreaded 'wget' on one of these archives. well, ex-
cept that the story in question may not even be worth the bits its 
'original' was encoded on:

     Murder? Yes, that word is carefully chosen.

yeah, right, just like it was when GWB started prating about 'weap-
ons of mass [gasp!] *murder*' a few days ago.

     I can easily imagine how the expression "shock and awe" was
     born. Remember, in America, marketing comes before anything.
     Everything from breast cancer treatment to Jesus is loudly
     marketed in this bizarre society. That's not even a slight
     exaggeration, although if you haven't lived there, you'll
     have to take my word for it. They are busy marketing terror,
     insecurity, and xenophobia right now, and that makes your
     chances of visiting America to research questions of this
     kind not very good.
