Emma Goldman, yes, but she /actually/ said: "I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everyboy's right to beautiful, radiant things." She is widely misquoted as saying "If I can't dance, it's not my revolution". The possible origins of this common misquotation are explained at http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/Goldman/Features/dances_shulman.html ---------------------------------- Barry Saunders Mary Patten wrote: >that would be emma goldman... > > > >>Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2004 11:10:26 +0000 >>From: Carl Guderian <[email protected]> >>Subject: Re: <nettime> re: Era of LibreSelf-Deception Society Manifesto >> >>Rosa Luxemburg said this years ago--If I can't dance, it's not my >>revolution--so how about a moratorium on manifestoes unless they can be >>set to dance music? >> >>Carl >> >>if you hum a few bars I can fake it >> >> >> > > > >*** > > >Mary Patten >Film/Video/New Media Department >School of the Art Institute of Chicago >112 South Michigan, #507 >Chicago, Illinois 60603 >office: 001.312.345.3684 >fax: 001.312.541.8070 >home/studio: 001.773.275.1526 >email: [email protected] > > > # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: [email protected] and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: [email protected]
