<nettime> Paper on networks and globalization

Here's a link to a "Networks and globalization" paper I did for the
Global Studies Association meeting earlier this month in Knoxville,
Tennessee, USA. Any comments will be appreciated, either on- or
off-list.

It's rather long for posting to the list. Briefly, it touches on the
following: if "network" is a general way of looking at any process, in
what way can we say that now is the "network society" or "network
economy" or "network form organization"? That globalization, as a stage
of capitalism (distinct from "imperialism", and speculative capital, as
a dominant form of capital in globalization, are inextricably connected
with the development and spread of material electronic information
distribution systems that we think of as "networks". And that
network-form organizations will benefit from understanding the
discoveries of "network science", though this part is not very
developed.
