<nettime> meet CIRCE

Dear all,

This Sunday, March 7 at 7pm, CIRCE, https://circex.org/, will showcase
their work in the context of our 7at7 event series on digital
empowerment: https://7at7.ch/mar2021/

They have prepared readings from their recent book "Internet, mon
amour", with Francesca Da Rimini and Diane Ludin, music, glimpses of
their hacker pedagogy methods, and more.

With this opportunity, I translated in English one of their articles on
the topic of blended learning in Corona times (related to another great
article by Donatella linked below): https://circex.org/en/news/organic-fad

I really enjoyed the suggestions of small hacks like
"to use the Zoom boxes (common to many /videochat/ software) dedicated
to the user's name in order to write. Not name, but hacker /nicknames/,
adjectives and metaphors that represent us at that moment, or even
mini-poems."

But also important points like the need to "combine group /videochat/
with regular individual meetings: a laborious task but ...".

In general, it is a very inspiring text based on real experiences, that
points to the right direction of making the best out of this situation
without losing our humanity:
"Spending less time online does not mean that minds, bodies, 'souls' are
less connected. What is crucial is the quality of the relationship, not
the quantity of monitor-minutes! Otherwise, the idea of /setting/ that
quantifies, that automatically tells us how long we have been connected
as if that much were a guarantee of success would pass."

Best,
