Subject: STRIKES ON MILITARY TARGETS IN YUGOSLAVIA

dear all,
i just wanted to remind everybody, that we should think and try to help
as well as we can our friends in yugoslavia, that from now on work under
even more impossible conditions. also, we should not forget our friends
in kosovo, macedonia and albania, who work under war or extreme pressure
conditions already for a year and more.
so, i suggest that the support and fund for b92 should be, also in name
and title, extended to all the independents in kosovo and around it.
i understand this is the initial idea (help b92 and other independent
media in yugoslavia) but this should be made even clearer. koha, radio
21 and others, who we might not even know also need help and support.
so, maybe call it ANEM FUND or INDEP-MEDIA FUND, but not just B92
FUND.
i can pledge the full support of the local technical capabilities to
everybody and hope that the founders of the fund will find the means and
methods to help these media to operate under these extreme conditions
and am offering once again the full cooperation of ljudmila, ljudmila_hw
lab and pact.
what is now needed is a clear message what is needed there, from there,
but bear in mind, that the strikes struck and are aimed again and only
against strategic and to a lesser extent tactical military
installations. so maybe what is needed there are methods and means to
safely transport information in and out of yugoslavia now.
we are late with this and we should know it. just throwing money at the
media will not help. a clearer strategy is needed, so an online debate
would not be a bad idea.

dear marko, dear all,

Thanks for your posting and the important points that you raise. It
is always the case that those who know how and whom to ask, and who
are already known, will be the ones that get. Those who understand
this should try to break the cycle, even though we also recognise
that the needs of b92 are real and urgent.

I also agree that we cannot assume we know what is required on
the ground. What do you or others among us know already from the
contacts you have? do you have suggestions?

lisa

Subject: Direct Reports from Kosovo/Sebria/Yugoslavia - E-mail to Web

Please forward as appropriate.

Direct Reports from Kosovo

A simple e-mail to web system has been established for those in the
Kosovo region to post messages directly to the web for the world to
see. Please help forward this message to individuals in
Kosovo/Serbia/Yugoslavia who might share their direct experience with
the crisis.

Those on the ground in the Kosovo/Serbia/Yugoslavia are encouraged to
send their posts for direct display on the web to:

     [email protected]

All posts must be read on the web from:

     http://www.eGroups.com/list/kosovo-reports/

The full service description is available below. The links to
related discussions or news sources are available from the web page.
As of the launch (Mar 24) it is not known exactly how this service
will be used.

Description:

This is a special mechanism to post real life informational e-mail
updates from the Kosovo/Serbia/Yugoslavia region to the web for the
world to see. All those involved are welcome to contribute their
story from people on the ground to those in the skies. Third person
accounts or news service stories are discouraged.

There will be no attempt to determine the authenticity or the
 accuracy of posts submitted.

This e-mail to web publishing mechanism is absolutely not designed
for discussion. No e-mail subscription requests will be processed and
all viewing must be done via the web interface.

To submit a report from the Kosovo area (no material copyrighted by
anyone other than yourself is allowed), send it directly to:

 [email protected]

For newswire and media oriented sources instead of personal direct
reports via e-mail check the following sources: EGroups - Kosovo,
AlbaNews, a mixed set of sources to come ...

Those interested in discussing the matter should visit either the CNN
message board on the topic or the soc.culture.yugoslavia and
soc.culture.albanian newsgroups on the web via Remarq.

For access to news accounts visit the links from Yahoo Full Coverage
or the BBC page on Kosovo.

To view the reports on the web visit:
 http://www.e-groups.com/list/kosovo-reports

This forum was created as an experiment by Steven Clift to determine
the usefullness of such an e-mail to web mechanism in this sort of
 crisis situation.

This e-group is hosted by eGroups.com.

Dear all,

Large Anti-Nato demonstrations in Skopje! "NATO go home, Yankees go home"
is exclaimed. First in front of the hotel Alexander Palace and now more
than 10,000 people according to TV stations are infront of the American
embassy from 18hrs. The demonstrators are throwing eggs and other harmless
materials to the Embassy. However the reception of the embassy is burning
due to hits from Molotov cocktails. Some American flags are being burnt
and there are some cars burnt.
More demonstrators are gathering and about to move to the center of the city.

Let's hope things stay calm.

Melentie

video of the bombing of airport Batajnica took from the roof of Dom
omladine - building in which B92 is situated (Batajnica is 26km from Dom
omladine and Dom omladine is in the middle of the town).

we where up there and what was terrifying is long lasting white track of
the bomb carrier we where looking at for 2 minutes - going from left to
right at the clear sky.
