The psykhologist John Luria did some reasearches in the 30s  on russian
farmers that did not know how to read, and as a result of that, they did
not know how to make deductions, analyzises like: if A is true, B is true;
A is true then B is also true. 

They had an oral tradition where knowledge came from mouth to mouth
storytelling as myths, and they were very much related to sites, and  based
their knowledge only on what they had seen with their very own eyes.

He asked them: On Greenland there is a lot of ice and it is very cold.
Polarbears like it where it is a lot of ice and very cold - do you think
there is Polarbears on Greenland?

Theyr ansvear was: I don't know, I've never been there. I only know the
Sibirian bear.

Johan, Your post made me me think two things:
1.  e-mail is not textual, but oral
2.  you are right, and we are all like russian illiterates, but even more
lost regarding truth, cause our sites are virtual

What is infowar, what is truth? You'll never know, exept if you do remember
how the bruises on your body appeared.
