From: "Gate Foundation" <[email protected]>

PRESS RELEASE

The Director of the Gate Foundation and the participating artists cordially
invite you to attend the book launch of:

THE THIRD SPACE IN THE FOURTH WORLD

on Sunday, March 7th, 2004
16:00 - 18:00

Location: Gate Foundation
Lijnbaansgracht 322 - 323, Amsterdam

The Third Space in the Forth World documents the exhibition and symposium at
Eastlink Gallery [Shanghai, China] from March 29th to April 12th, 2002. This
was the first exhibition at Eastlink Gallery, built around the concept of
intercultural exchange, which is particularly significant given the state of
contemporary art in Shanghai and the international politics and policies
surrounding it.

The book contains the works of the participating artists:
Tiong Ang, Chen Shaoxiong, Charlie Citron, Hu Jieming, Peter Lelliott, Lu
Chunsheng, Qiu Zhijie, Rene Ridgway, Zhang Peili and Jianren Zhao.
It includes essays by Robert C. Morgan [art critic, NY] and Sebastian Lopez
[Director, Gate Foundation], as well as a transcript of the symposium held
at Eastlink on March 30, 2002, which brought together artists, journalists
and theorists from the Netherlands, United States, Germany, Taiwan and
China.

Works of several artists from this project, some of them portrayed in this
