[Nettime-ro] Invitation: The Irresistible Force


The Romanian Cultural Institute warmly invites you to
   
  The Irresistible Force 
  a Tate Modern exhibition featuring Romanian artist Matei Bejenaru
   
  20 September - 25 November 2007 
  Level 2 Gallery, Tate Modern, Bankside, London SE1 9TG
                 
  Matei Bejenaru, currently artist-in-residence at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, takes part in the Tate Modern group exhibition The Irresistible Force. The exhibition looks at how economic forces shape our lives, as cultural values and traditions are realigned by global capitalism. 
   
  Also featured are international artists Conrad Bakker, Tim Davis, Claire Fontaine, Mika Rottenberg, Michael Stevenson and Judi Werthein. The exhibition is curated by Ben Borthwick and Kerryn Greenberg. 
   
  Matei Bejenaru's contribution is a Travelling Guide which includes information about the Romanian nationals who attempted to work illegally in the UK before Romania joined the EU. The work was shown in 2006 at Thyssen-Bornemisza Contemporary Art in Vienna and in 2007 at the Prague Biennial 3 and at the Galeria Posibila in Bucharest. 
   
  Matei Bejenaru is a visual artist and the founder and artistic director of Periferic Biennial in Iasi, Romania. His art projects in recent years have focused on the situation of Romanian nationals who live and work abroad.
