*Nicolae Comănescu deschide Zorzini gallery - DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis*


În data de 15 martie a.c., se deschide în Bucureşti Zorzini Gallery, un nou
spaţiu dedicat artei recente şi contemporane: situată pe Str. Thomas
Masaryk la nr. 31, galeria Zorzini se înscrie în categoria galeriilor
comerciale şi este condusă în parteneriat de Adina Zorzini (director
artistic şi programe culturale), Roxana Gamarţ (director PR şi comunicare)
şi Andreea Mogoşanu (director administrativ şi marketing).

Zorzini Gallery se axează în primul rând pe introducerea şi promovarea
artiştilor din România în circuitul artei internaţionale, dar este
preocupată secundar şi de prezentarea punctuală a unor artişti
internaţionali în contextul artei româneşti, iar din portofoliul acesteia
fac parte momentan, fie în regim de exclusivitate fie de co-reprezentare,
artiştii: Nicolae Comănescu, Andrei Gamarţ, Oana Lohan şi Floriama Cândea.

În proiectul DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis, Nicolae Comănescu prezintă cele
mai recente lucrări din perioada Praf şi Pulberi, totodată şi ultimele din
această serie caracterizată prin materialele de lucru neconvenţionale
utilizate în pictură, care au inclus de-a lungul ultimilor cinci ani o
varietate de prafuri şi pulberi obţinute manual de către artist din cenuşă
de ţigări sau lemne, muştar, caramidă şi lut, pământ, noroi sau pulberi
vegetale de diferite provenienţe, etc.

Din perspectiva formală, pe lângă trăsăturile caracteristice perioadei Praf
şi Pulberi, lucrările prezentate în deschiderea galeriei Zorzini conţin şi
trăsături stilistice şi cromatice specifice perioadei Rostopasca, grupare
artistică activă între anii 1997 şi 2001, din care Nicolae Comănescu a
facut parte ca membru fondator; proiectul DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis se
situează astfel la limita dintre realismul prafului şi a pulberilor şi
expresionismul rostopasc.

Cele 11 lucrări concepute pentru deschiderea galeriei Zorzini vor fi
integrate unei scenografii murale care va acoperi toate suprafeţele de
expunere, ca o dublă transgresie a unei realităţi specifice şi a unui timp
concret şi, care dau întregului proiect o dimensiune teatrală, de baroc
contemporan; astfel, prima transgresie rezidă în încălcarea cadrului pânzei
pictate şi continuarea reprezentării pe zidurile galeriei, în timp ce a
doua constă în trecerea de la o imagine de sine stătătoare la un timp
pasager al reprezentării, respectiv de la imaginile de lungă durată ale
pânzelor la pictura pereţilor care va dispărea odată cu încheierea
expoziţiei.

Tema aleasă de Nicolae Comănescu pentru acest solo show este peisajul post
industrial pe care comunismul l-a lasat în urmă pe întreg teritoriul
României, ca o moştenire lugubră a impulsului schizofrenic de a construi, a
maniei compulsive de urbanizare: arhitecturile mutante grefate pe terenuri
naturale, structurile megalomanice din interiorul oraşelor precum
Bucureştiul, ruinele bizare şi deteriorate ale elanului constructivist
abandonat după '89, se regăsesc toate în DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis şi
toate produc o naraţiune halucinantă a panoramei arhitectonice din istoria

*Nicolae Comănescu opens Zorzini gallery - DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis*


On the 15th of March 2012, Nicolae Comănescu, one of Romania's most
established artists, will be opening a new art space dedicated to
contemporary art, that appeared at the initiative of the art critic and
curator Adina Zorzini, PR specialist Roxana Gamarţ and jewelry designer
Andreea Mogoşanu: Zorzini Gallery, located on 31 Thomas Masaryk street, in
the old architectural center of Bucharest, the capital city of the country.

Zorzini gallery focuses on introducing recent and contemporary art from
Romania into the international art circuit and also on displaying
international initiatives to the local art scene, proudly representing both
established and emerging artists like: Nicolae Comănescu, Andrei Gamarţ,
Oana Lohan, Floriama Cândea, and others that correspond to the gallery's
aesthetic agenda, which includes graphic, painting, installation and mixed
media.

In this solo show especially conceived for the opening of Zorzini gallery,
DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis project, Nicolae Comănescu presents the most
recent and also the last works belonging to his famous Dust and Powder
period, which is characterized by working with unconventional materials
like different types of dust, ashes and powders, including common home dust
and cigarette or wood ashes, pulped leaves and pounded soil, powders obtain
from brick, clay or mustard, etc, all manually processed by the artist in
his studio.

Aside the pigments obtained from these natural materials, the works feature
few well delimited areas of powerful acrylic hues and tones, extracted from
the artist's experience within Rostopasca group; active between 1997 and
2001, Rostopasca group had a modifying significance with regard to the
contemporary Romanian art history.

The DNA : Dust Narrative Analysis show features 11 new paintings that grow
and extend into a scene painting covering all of the gallery's walls,
leading to a transgression of realities, both of a concrete space and of a
specific time, and giving the project a final theatrical dimension. Thus,
the first transgression resides in the trespassing of the frameworks and
flooding of the exhibiting space with painted representations that continue
the canvases narration, while the second one consists in switching from a
long lasting image to an ephemeral representation, respectively from the
canvases to the paintings of the walls, which will disappear at the end of
the show.

The theme Nicolae Comănescu's project concentrates on is the postindustrial
landscape that the communist regime left behind in Romania as legacy of its
constructive schizophrenia: the mutant architectures graft on natural
terrains, the megalomaniac structures inside cities boundaries, the
derailed ruins of a compulsive urbanizing impulse all over the country and
abandoned after the Revolution of '89, all gather in the DNA : Dust
Narrative Analysis story and produce a hallucinating panorama of the
Romania's recent architectural history. (Adina Zorzini)
