"Ecaterina Vrana are o problemÄ: pictura ei este ÃnecatÄ Ãn viaÅÄ.
IncapabilÄ de distanÅÄ, de concept, de reflecÅie, de criticÄ, de strategie
sau de activism, de lucruri inteligente Åi de bun simÅ, pictura ei se
complace Ãn ea ÃnsÄÅi, Ãn viaÅa ei tumultos de accidentatÄ. Pictura-i o
lipitoare ce suge tot sÃngele stricat, ÃnvineÅit de loviturile primite ceas
de ceas. GrasÄ Åi lucioasÄ ca lipitoarea sÄtulÄ, pictura cade peste
privitorul Ãngrozit de impudoarea stridentÄ: din tablouri se scurg toate
ororile unui eu complet descoperit, peste care nu e aruncat nici mÄcar
vÄlul subÅire al culturii, lÄsÃnd sÄ se vadÄ, de aproape, poftele cele mai
nÄstruÅnice, dar Åi cele mai amÄnunÅite liste cu datorii.

Arta Ecaterinei Vrana este primitivÄ, primordialÄ, uitatÄ Ãn Lascaux.
PÃnzele sÃnt pentru ea doar un surogat al peretelui de peÅterÄ, pe care Ãl
mÃnjeÅte mereu cu pigment, Ãn speranÅa cÄ vaca, oaia, puiul, omul pictat
acolo o sÄ-i cadÄ Ãn mrejele vrÄjilor sale Åi-o sÄ-Åi poatÄ ospÄta apoi pe
sÄturate gloata de spaime ce-i dÄ ghes. De aceea tablourile sale nu sÃnt
deloc "un joc secund, mai pur", ci un joc primar, cel mai impur Åi dur:
jocul celui care disperÄ fÄrÄ oprire, uluit cÄ durerea nu ucide, ci dÄ
dependenÅÄ, existenÅÄ." Erwin Kessler

Ãn fiecare zi, de luni pÃnÄ duminicÄ, Ãntre orele 10:00 - 24:00. A doua
supantÄ a librÄriei-manifest este un spaÅiu dedicat artei contemporane, cu
un program expoziÅional propus de Aiurart alcÄtuit din selecÅii curatoriale
retrospective, deopotrivÄ adecvate amplasÄrii Ãn aceastÄ agora Åi relevante
pentru istoria artei recente.

"Ecaterina Vrana appears to have o problem: all her paintings are soaked in
the experience of being alive. Seemingly incapable of distancing herself â
either conceptually, reflectively, critically or strategically â and unable
(or maybe unwilling) to take a step back from her egotistic activism or
from anything wise or otherwise, she indulges exclusively and autistically
in her very own being, in her tumultuously abrupt life. Painting is a leech
sucking up all the rotten blood on her face turned into a sore, after being
incessantly struck. Fat and sleek as a leech that had had its fill, the
painting tumbles down upon the beholder that had been seemingly overawed by
the strident impudence: her paintings ooze the whole spectrum of horrors
coming out of a stark-naked ego, which has not even been covered by the
see-through veil of culture, letting out into the open her naughtiest
instances of longing and her most detailed debt lists ever.

Ecaterina Vranaâs art is primitive, primordial even, as if it's coming down
from Lascaux. Her canvases are merely a makeshift of the cave wall which
she daubs ceaselessly in pigment, hoping that one day, the cow, the sheep,
the chicken or the human that were painted there will get entangled in her
spells so that she may go on to feed handsomely the orgy of fears that keep
pushing her around. Hence the reason why her paintings cannot be further
from their being âa secondary game and purer at thatâ as they are instead a
primary game, the most ritually unclean and raw game that there ever was:
the game that brings about ceaseless desperation, the shock and awe of
finding out that pain doesnât kill, it turns into addictive existence."
