Fine Art
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

This is an exciting opportunity for two contemporary artists with significant
exhibition/research profiles to join a department which has an excellent
research culture with substantial support for staff (rated 4), international
recognition, and outstanding facilities. We are looking for two committed
practising artists whose work uses photographic media. You will be aware of
changes in current photographic practice and will share the teaching and
development of chemical and digital technologies. An awareness of contemporary
critical theory and the ability to work within the Fine Art team is essential.
A postgraduate degree in Fine Art or related discipline is desirable as is
higher education teaching experience.

Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University consists of three linked courses with a
common philosophy, Painting/Printmaking, Sculpture and Time Based Art plus an
expanding MA in Fine Art. Students have always been involved with emergent
technologies within contemporary art practice, including film, video and
digital imaging.

If you wish to informally discuss these posts, ring Steve Hawley, Subject
Leader in Fine Art on (0114) 225 2636.

Job Outline

The successful candidates will work within the Fine Art team to teach all
levels of photographic practice and theory to Fine Art students, and other
students as appropriate. They will lead the development of photography within
Fine Art, and take an active part in the flexible programme of teaching over
the four courses in the Fine Art programme (including the MA).

They will take on the administration of photographic provision within the
School of Cultural Studies, and other administrative roles as appropriate. As
well as teaching workshops and individual tutorials, the candidate will be
expected to lead specialist and general seminars and critique groups as
appropriate.
