Syndicate: Virtual Urban

This is an invitation to travel through and participate in a 
collaborative web based project that explores the idea of urban 
navigation in both physical and virtual space. This site was made 
from an e-mail dialogue between artists Aisling O' Beirn (based in 
Belfast) and Marjetica Potrc (based in Ljubljana, Slovenia), using 
images and texts. It is an attempt to reassess contemporary urban 
space. 

The site currently consists of 3 zones.

Zone 1 General Zone, examines urban imagery in a non linear 
fashion.

Zone 2 Body Zone, examines the city in figurative terms.

Zone 3  Navigation Zone, examines the city in terms of navigation 

Zone 4 Tourist Zone will use material sent by surfers in response to 
the issues raised by the site.

The artists will construct a forth zone from selected imagery and text 
that are emailed to this site. Surfers are invited to partake in Virtual 
Urban by sending Jpgs or text attachments in response to the issues 
raised by the site by the 30th of September. A selection of this sent 
material will be used to construct zone 4.

Aisling O'Beirn built the site on a residency in Arthouse Multi Media 
Centre, Dublin This project is sponsored by Arthouse, The Arts 
Council / An Chomhairle Ealaion and The Arts Council of Northern 
Ireland.
