ISEA 96 conferen

Dear Friends,

There is still some confusion about the relationship between the two
festivals/conferences that are taking place in Rotterdam in September:

DEAF'96 (17-22.9.) is the annual festival of V2_Organisation, this year
entitled 'Digital Territories' and focussing on the relationship between
architecture, urban culture and electronic networks. DEAF96 includes an
exhibition of interactive artworks, an international symposium, several
programmes about aspects relating to electronic art, network culture,
virtual architecture, online communication, and concerts and performances.
In the context of DEAF96 we will be hosting the V2_East Meeting on 18 and
20 September. Prices for participating in the different programmes are
relatively low, and you can follow the whole programme for less than $75.
(Special arrangements will be made for the participants of DEAF programmes,
incl. the V2_East programme.)

ISEA'96 (16-20.9.) is the annual conference of the Inter-Society of
Electronic Arts which is taking place in Rotterdam this year. This is a
conference with a dense programme of panels, workshops and poster sessions
about all sorts of aspects of electronic arts, performances and a small
exhibition. The fee for the entire ISEA96 conference is just under $400
(daily rate $135), ISEA members pay $350 and guests of DEAF96 can get a
special fee of $300. Students' fees are lower, and special fees apply for
the workshops.

NOTE: From V2, we have no possibility for helping people to get into ISEA
cheap or for free. I did talk to the organisers of ISEA today and said that
there might be people who want to come but cannot pay the full fees.
Wimfred Grashoff said that they will consider lowering the rates on an
individual basis for those people who write to them directly at
<isea96@hro.nl> and explain why they cannot pay.

If you have questions about this, please, don't hesitate to contact me, or
directly contact ISEA for a reduction of the fee.
