Soda Internal Vibrating Pager project - seeking partners for autumn 1999

Project dates - 4 weeks in October/November 1999
Deadline for registration of interest:  March 1 1999

Summary
An interdisciplinary, cross art form piece by artist Lucy Kimbell,
supported by Soda, a London arts group, TEST, a digital research facility
in Huddersfield, and DA2, digital arts development agency, Bristol. Much of
Lucy Kimbell and Soda's work concerns interfaces between the real world and
computer mediated spaces and the flows of information, desire and power
between them.

Project outcomes
national
a limited edition of vibrate-only pagers to be worn internally (no message
facility), for sale
a public telephone interface which triggers calls to the pagers to make
them vibrate
a web interface to the project where pagers can be ordered/issues discussed
local
publicity to distribute the number of the phone system using broadcast/
print media
roadshow of a talk illustrating research into project concerns by artist
Lucy Kimbell

Education - as an intervention into debates about technology and desire,

Feb-April*	Soda/TEST - confirm dates for events for project

August 		LK/Soda repurpose pagers; build web site; build phone
interface; test
September	Soda/TEST - distribute pagers via web and gallery sales/
media campaign
October/Nov	phone interface goes live/media campaign/roadshow of talks

venue, and state how you can help:

- generate local media sponsorship eg local newspapers, magazines, TV,
radio, billboards
- host a talk within your education or talks programme (subsidy available)
- distribute cards in your area to promote the project phone no. in
bars/cafes/phone boxes
- distribute cards in your regular mailings for Sept/Oct 1999
- host a banner ad and link for the project on your web site
