Syndicate: BEST WORKS ON THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL VIDEO SUMMIT VIDEOMEDEJA

THE FUORTH INTERNATIONAL VIDEO SUMMIT VIDEOMEDEJA, held in Novi Sad in
the period from 3rd to 5th December, 1999, has been successfully ended
with the proclamation of the best works.
The expert jury ( Ms. Darka Radosavljevic, the president, Mr. Sava
Stepanov and Mr. Andrej Tisma ) has decided to award the prize "Bogdanka
Poznanovic" for the best young author to Biljana Klaric ( YU ) for the
video work "Jovans`s life" ( 3`26`` ) and "Golden Sphinx" for the opus
to Dragana zarevac ( YU ). The "Videomedeja Medallions" to Vesna Vesic (
YU ) for the work "Wash Me and I Shall Be Whiter then Snow ( 7` ), to
Olga Egorova - Natalia Pershina Jakimanskaya ( RU ) for the video
performance "Whites" and to the selection of video art "ATA CENTRE FOR
CONTEMPORARY ART" from Bulgaria.
This year`s Festival, held in the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad was marked
by the slogan "Let`s survive together in the world video reality". At
the Festival, more tham one hundred video works, installations,
documents, performances  and web tours were presented, coming from
Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Yugoslavia,
Canada, Korea, Hungary, Rumaniqa, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey and Great
Britain.
Although the festival was held during the big crisis in our country, the
creative energy of the organizers and artists from all around the world
and from the country attracted a huge number of the funs of video art -
about what very cleary spoke the full hall of the Cultural centre of
Novi Sad - and has fully justified the expectations and demands of the
only video festival in Yugoslavia.
