In ihrer Performance am 16. MÃrz 2007 jammen sich die Schweizer carl,
wanga und bacon mit Gameboys, Mini-Samplern und Laptops durch
micromusic-, aktuelles Pop- und foundfootage-Material. So wurde schon
manches Ohr in Extase und Tanzbein in Schwingung gebracht. 

Nach mehr als 2 Jahren Pause sind die 3 Freunde nun zum ersten Mal
wieder live zu erleben - in Oldenburg im Edith-RuÃ-Haus fÃr Medienkunst.
micromusic ist eine Community, ein Netzwerk und ein Label, das Ende 1998
von carl alias Gino Esposto (ZÃrich) und bacon alias Michael Burkhardt
(Basel) unter dem Projektnamen âfuturelabâ gegrÃndet wurde. Im Zentrum
stand das gemeinsame Interesse an den eingÃngigen Melodiesequenzen, die
als Alarm- oder BestÃtigungshinweise nach einem Spielzug auf Game Boy,
Playstation und den frÃhen Homecomputermodellen wie Commodore 64 oder
Atari zu hÃren sind. Der Wunsch nach Austausch und Verbreitung via
Internet fÃhrte rasch zu einer Websound-Community, die zum
AushÃngeschild einer spezialisierten Gemeinschaft der 8- und 16bit
Musik wurde.

Die Ãsthetik dieser âcomputer game soundzâ ist auch 20 Jahre nach dem
ersten Programm âSoundTrackerâ von Karsten Obarski fÃr den Amiga 500
ungebrochen.
micromusic.net hat Ãber 10.000 User Accounts und 4.000 regulÃre GÃste.
Der Inhalt der Plattform wird Ãber die Benutzer generiert, Micromusic
Ãbernimmt dabei die Filterung, Aufbereitung, Moderation und
PrÃsentation. Das Interface ist in Anlehnung an Computerspiele so
gestaltet, dass die User Einfluss auf ihren âmicrolevelâ in
AbhÃngigkeit ihrer AktivitÃt haben. Jeden Monat laden etwa
vierhundert aktive Micromusiker circa dreihundert Lieder hoch, aus denen
alle ein bis zwei Monate die besten ausgewÃhlt werden.

The swiss performer carl, wanga and bacon, who have thrown many an ear
into ecstasies of rapture and made many a leg jig to their tunes, will
conduct a jam session at their concert on 16 March 2007 with Gameboys,
mini-samplers and laptops through micromusic, current pop and
found-footage material. 

After a break of more than two years, the three friends are now
re-united for the first time live - in Oldenburg at the Edith Russ Site
for Media Art. Micromusic is a community, a network and a label that was
founded late in 1998 by Gino Esposto (Zurich) and Michael Burkhardt
(Basel) as a project called âfuturelabâ. It centred on the interest
they shared in sequences of melody that wouldnât go out of their
heads, which can be heard as alarm or confirmation references to a move
on Game Boy, Playstation and such vintage home computer models as the
Commodore 64 or the Atari. A desire for exchange and dissemination via
the internet soon led to a complex web sound community system that has
become the visiting card of a community specialised in 8 and 16 bit
music.

Even twenty years after the first âSoundTrackerâ programme
developed by Karsten Obarski for the Amiga 500, the aesthetic of these
âcomputer game soundzâ is going strong. micromusic.net has more
than 10 000 user accounts and 4000 regular guests. The content of the
platform is generated via its users. Micromusic undertakes to filter,
prepare, moderate and present it. The interface is, borrowing from
computer games, designed so that users influence their âmicrolevelâ
depending on what their activities are. Every month some four hundred
active micro-musicians upload around three hundred songs, from which the
best are selected once a month or so.
