"...It's impossible to attribute a specific description or an ultimate 
definition to adolescence. This was not the aim of our artists. The 
state of being of the adolescent is too multi-facetted. Yet besides the 
questions connected to self-image, desire or liberation, the issue of 
personal aims and ideals must still be considered. When a young person 
has redefined his identity, readjusted his persona, he is able to 
formulate new ideals and enter into differing relationships further 
afield than those of immediate family. New goals and human intercourse 
to be discovered and pursued. However changeable they may prove to be 
(peace activist turns skinhead, butcher's son becomes vegan, artist 
retreats to a monastery), significant ideals are formed during 
adolescence. These are ardently pursued. Fervently fought for. Defiantly 
defended. Until the moment when contrary goals appear more attractive or

"...Van de adolescent is geen éénduidige beschrijving te geven en zeker 
niet één ultiem beeld. Daar is ook geen van de kunstenaars naar op zoek 
geweest. Alleen het woord al is te groots. Toch moet naast het imago, 
het verlangen en bevrijding nog het eigen ideaal genoemd worden. Wanneer 
de adolescent zijn identiteit opnieuw heeft gedefinieerd, zijn zelfbeeld 
heeft bijgesteld dan is hij in staat nieuwe idealen voorop te stellen en 
nieuwe verbintenissen (buiten het gezin) aan te gaan. Naar idealen wordt 
geleefd. En hoe veranderlijk ze ook zijn (overtuigd vredesactivist wordt 
skinhead, slagerszoon wordt veganist, artistiek talent vertrekt naar 
klooster), de grootste idealen ontstaan tijdens de adolescentie. Ze 
worden fanatiek nagejaagd. Er wordt fel voor gestreden. Totdat het 
tegenovergestelde misschien wel van meer waarde lijkt te zijn." (Anouk
